Our History

Wake Relief was established in 1975 as an outreach ministry of Christ Episcopal Church committed to providing emergency food for Wake County residents in need. Wake Relief has always been and continues to be an all volunteer operation with the majority of funds donated used for food. Begun by Christ Church, Wake Relief now enjoys participation from other area churches; principally St. Michael’s Episcopal and White Memorial Presbyterian. A board of directors supports a volunteer base of approximately 100 regular volunteers. The enterprise is made possible by in-kind and monetary donations from area churches, community organizations, schools and individuals. Wake Relief is housed in the St. Saviour's Center, a community outreach center. To learn more about St. Saviour's Center and their services, click on the button below.
